James Eldred Cheshier Sr., 86, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday at Stuttgart. He was born May 12, 1918, at Willow, a son of the late William Cheshier and Dora Cheshier.
He served in the Army Air Corps. He was a retired Greyhound bus driver. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church at Pine Bluff, where he served as head usher for 17 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Watson Chapel.
He was preceded in death one brother, Doyle Cheshier. Survivors include his wife, Delma Cheshier; two sons, Jim Cheshier Jr. of Houston and Carl Cheshier of Stuttgart; one daughter, Bettye Cheshier Evans of Houston; one stepdaughter, Kay Offutt of Pine Bluff; four brothers, Jack Cheshier and Bobby Cheshier, both of Grants Pass, Ore., Jimmy Cheshier of Independence, Mo., and Dwayne Cheshier of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Virginia Jackson of Palm City, Fla., Jean Burford of Little Rock, Anita Tucker of Boerne, Texas, and Lorene Horn of Katy, Texas; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home at Stuttgart.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
