He had siblings inlcuding Doyle (1914-1976), Mydda (1916-1917), Jean (1921-2012), Nancy (1924-2012), Thomas (1925-2010), and Billy Jack Cheshier (1930-2015). He lived in Midway, Hot Spring, Arkansas, USA and Pine Bluff, AR before moving to Presidio, Texas, USA in the 1940's. On November 19, 1944 he married Bettye Woods in Jefferson, Arkansas, United States. James had two sons and one daughter. He worked for Greyhound Bus Lines as a driver and retired from there. James served in the Army Air Corps.
