James J Long was born in 1738 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania United States, and had a sibling Cookson Long. He was married to Nancy Long, and they were together until Nancy's death. He had children Cookson Long, John Long, and George W Long. James Long died at age 91 years old on April 6, 1830 in Crawford County, and was buried on April 8, 1830 at Mt. Blair Cemetery in Woodcock.
