James Nuttall Watson was born in Burnley Lancashire in 1893. He was the son of Hiram and Susannah Elizabeth Watson of Burnley Lancashire. In 1901, the family lived at 11 Willow Street Burnley with Hiram's widowed mother Sarah. In 1915 James Nuttall Watson enlisted in the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry and he was killed on the Somme on 22nd April 1916. He is mentioned on the Menin Gate Memorial. Hiram and Susannah had thirteen children. Hiram Watson had a brother also called James Nuttall Watson who had a son who was also called James Nuttall Watson born 1886. This James Nuttall Watson was my grandfather, my mother's father. He enlisted in 1915, joining the 5th Seaforth Highland Regiment. He was killed on the 9th April 1917 in the battle of Arras. He is buried in Roclincourt Highland Cemetery. Two cousins, both called James Nuttall Watson, both killed.
Susannah Elizabeth Watson died in 1909 and was buried on the 18th September in Burnley Cemetery.
After Susannah;s death, Hiram married Alice Hannah Bimson on October 25th 1910 in Blackburn St Michael's and All Angels.
Hiram Watson died in 1913 and was buried on the 9th April in Burnley Cemetery with his first wife.
