His paternal grandfather was born in Indiana and his paternal grandmother was born in Grapefield Bland County VA. His material grandfather was born at home in Zebulon, Franklin County, NC. His maternal grandmother was born in Spring Hope, Nash County, NC. All of his family members are Caucasian.

    James went to Lewis H. Powell Elementary School from first grade through fifth grade. He then attended Carnage Middle School for sixth through eighth grade. In eighth grade he received the Principal’s Award. He then attended Willam G. Enloe Senior High School from ninth grade to twelfth grade. He graduated from there on June 10, 1988. Later in life, he decided to go back to college and attended Colorado Technical University where he graduated Summa Cum Laud in a Batchelor of Science in Healthcare Management at the age of 47. He went straight into his master’s program and graduated from Colorado Technical University with a Master of Science in Healthcare Management at 49.

  • Religious Beliefs

    James was brought to the church he grew up in when he was a week old. The church he grew up in was and still is the church he still goes to, Trinity Baptist Church on Six Forks Rd in Raleigh, NC. He is currently the secretary of his Sunday school class as well as the Co-Ed Department 2 secretary. He has been doing both for the last 8 years.

  • Professional Career

    James started his career path on January 1, 1987 as a drug clerk at Eckerd’s Drug store chain. The last position he held there was senior pharmacy training specialist for the Mid-Atlantic Region. He was with Eckerd’s for 13 1/2 years before he left. After leaving Eckerd’s, he worked as a manager in a retail video store, Pegasus Video and News. He had that job for six years before leaving to get back into a healthcare setting. On September 18, 2006, he started his journey with Duke University Health Systems as a medical secretary/scheduler in the oncology department. On September 18, 2023, he celebrated 18 years with Duke in the oncology department as their Service Access Team Lead for the Duke Cancer Institute of Durham and Wake Counties as well as Service Access Team Lead for Grant Scheduling.
