2 Memories, Stories & Photos about Jane

Jane Morton Rambo Smith
Jane Morton Rambo Smith
I have an old studio photograph of Jennie M. R. RAMBO which was taken in 1896 when she was 17 years old. The photograph was taken at the Lenney Studio in Newport, PA. She is also identified as "Lizzie's sister (SMITH)" and a note on the back of the photograph also says, "John courted her awhile in 1898".

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Jennie and her family:

Jane “Jennie” Morton RAMBO was b. 2 Aug 1879 in Shermans Dale or Shermansville, PA to parents Hugh Wilson RAMBO (1847-1916) and Nancy “Nannie” Catherine or Catharine HENDERSON (1855-1907) who were married 22 Dec 1874 in Pennsylvania.

Jennie was one of three children born to this couple including Martha Elizabeth “Lizzie”; Jane “Jennie” Morton; and James McCord RAMBO, all born between 1877 and 1879. Jennie married Frank Walter SMITH (1877-1940) on 9 Oct 1901 in Dellville, PA and they had four children including John Wilmot or Wilmont; Clarence Raymond; Charles Melvin; and Roy Lester SMITH, all born between 1902 and 1909.

Jennie died 25 Nov 1950 in Carlisle or New Bloomfield, PA and is buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery in New Bloomfield, PA. At the time of her death, she was working as the Housemother at Carson Long Military Academy.

I would like to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
