John Herpich died at age 92 years old on March 6, 1961 in Delavan, Morris Co County, KS, and was buried circa March 8, 1961 at Delavan Cemetery in Delavan.

    Herington Advertiser Times Thursday March 9, 1961 page 1 JOHN HERPICH PIONEER RESIDENT DIED ON MONDAY John A. Herpich, 92, a resident of this community for nearly 80 years died Monday evening at his home at 813 E. Trapp. He was born July 17, 1868 at Portland, Prairie, Minn. and came to the Clarks Creek area when a lad of only 12 years. It was soon that he began a career of farming which he followed until retirement. After several years in the Clarks Creek community he bought a farm near Delavan and lived there until moving to Herington. Mr. Herpich was married to Eva Bruckner in 1903 and to this union 10 children were born. Surviving are his wife of the home, their children: Harold Herpich, Delavan; Frances Dittmeyer, DeRidder, LA; Orlando Herpich, Herington; Leodore Herpich, Ada; Mildred Papenbans (?), Mulvane; Russel Herpich, Manhattan; Maxine Lapham, Berea, Ohio; Joyce Kemble, Herington; Kenneth Herpich, Herington; One daughter, Gertrude Smithson preceded him in death. Also surviving are a brother, Henry of Herington and a sister Pauline Herpich of Delavan, 19 granchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm at the First Christian Church with Rev. Geo. Lespagnard officiating and burial will be in the Delavan cemetery. Friends may call at the Puryear Chapel today until time of the service to pay their final respect to this pioneer citizen.
