He had siblings John Bowler, Mary Bowler, Sarah Bowler, Elizabeth (Bowler) Cross, and Charlotte (Bowler) Hayes. Richard Bowler died at age 74 years old in 1878 at Bricksfield Pauper Depot in Hobart, TAS Australia, and was buried at Cornelian Bay.
