Oh no - this is my grt grandfather - his dad was Kroetch/Kroetsch/Krotch - german immigrants in the 1840s, mostly to Canada (one son went to Michigan). His mom was French-Canadian (Caskagnette and Chartrand). The French-Canadian side was in Canada since the 1640s (a French soldier who was given 640 acres by the King) and some were "daughters of the King" - women sent over by the King of France to marry Canadian men. I think Jean Henri-Baptiste was a common French Catholic name.
Maybe a friend? Or a neighbor? Would you post the photo?
