He married Elizabeth (Burgess) Bowler on November 20, 1817 in Marsh Gibbon, Buckinghamshire County, and they were married until Elizabeth's death in 1837. They had children Richard Bowler and Thomas Bowler. He would also marry Sarah Bowler in 1839, and they were married until John's death in 1884. They had a child William Bowler.

    John was a clockmaker in Brill, Buckinghamshire England in 1841. He was first married to Elizabeth Burgess (1796-1837) on 20th November 1817 at Marsh Gibbon, near Dorton, with whom he may have had at least one of his children, Richard. After her death he then remarried to Sarah Rawlins.
