    The Horsham Times. 17th December 1943. - OBITUARY. McINTYRE. - Mr. John Brown Broughton McIntyre, of Minyip, whose death occurred on Sunday, December 5, was born at Crawford Station, Condah. Deceased was 65 years old of age and when a youth he came to the Wimmera. At the age of 19 years he settled at Minyip, where he was employed by Messrs. Thos. Young & Co., with which firm he remained for the rest of his life. For a number of years he was manager of the firm's Minyip branch and was well known and highly esteemed in stock and station circles. The late Mr. McIntyre led an active life and in his young days was a footballer of outstanding ability; he was also successful as a footrunner. Later he became keenly interested in trotting and trained several horses with a great measure of success. The late Mr. McIntyre was one of the most widely known personalities in the Wimmera, and a large circle of friends regret his death. He took a keen interest in sport and was an active member of the racing and trotting clubs of the town. In 1907 deceased married Miss Susan Selkirk, of Minyip, and besides his wife is survived by the following sons and daughters; Mavis, Monica ( Mrs. C. Farrant ), Robert, Lindsay ( R.A.A.F. ), Barry ( R.A.A.F. ), Ronald ( R.A.A.F. ), and Joan. One daughter Jean is deceased. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place at the Minyip Cemetery.
