  • Introduction

The Warracknabeal Herald. 30th January 1914. A very old and respected resident of the Wimmera in the person of Mr. Malcolm McIntyre, senr., formerly owner of the South Brighton Station, Horsham, passed away at his residence, near Melbourne. The deceased gentleman was a station manager and owner for many years, and a first class judge of sheep and horses. He owned not a few horses who were notable performers in the show ring and on the racecourse. The well known hunter, Jim, owned by him, won first prize seven years in succession at the Horsham show in the weight carrying section, and Blondin, another horse owned by Mr. McIntyre, was never beaten in the show ring as a lady's hunter. About 18 years ago Mr. McIntyre left the Wimmera and went to reside at Melbourne. He was the inventor of a very effective rabbit exterminator, which still has an extensive sale. The deceased gentleman, who was 63 years of age, died from pneumonia. Mr. John McIntyre, of Minyip, and Mr. Malcolm McIntyre, of Ouyen, are sons of the deceased.
