John Francis Moulton

I have an old photograph of John Francis MOULTON which was taken at the C. W. Bigden Studio in Buffalo, NY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's. John is indicated as born 1840 and died 1887, the father of Frank J. MOULTON and grandfather of John F. MOULTON. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding John and his family:

John Francis MOULTON was b. 3 Feb 1841 in Beverly, MA to parents Charles MOULTON (1811-1901) and Abigail “Abbie” COLE (1819-1847) who were married 4 Apr 1839 in Beverly, MA. He was the only child born to this couple with his father having been married two other times with 8 additional children including Charles Lummus or Lummas; Alonzo Grafton; Albert; Abbie or Abby Ann; Matilda; Matilda Lummus; Hervey or Henry Cole; and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” MOULTON, all born between 1835 and 1863.

John married Lucy Ober GILES (b. 1841) on 15 Dec 1859 in Beverly or Salem, MA and they had three children including Francis “Frank” Tilton; Nelly or Nellie Abby or Abbie; and Lucy Frances “Fannie” MOULTON, all born between 1861 and 1865. John died 26 or 28 Apr 1887 in Buffalo, NY. His son Frank Tilton MOULTON was b. 1860 in Beverly, MA and married Ann Hurd MCNALL (1875-1962) on 24 Sept 1903 in Albion, NY and they had two children including Ruth MOULTON (1909-1999) and John Francis MOULTON (1918-1977).

Frank died 28 Mar 1933 in Buffalo, NY and is buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo. His son John Francis MOULTON was b. 1918 in New Jersey and married Marjorie Raymond RICKETTS (1922-2013) and they had two children including John Warren MOULTON and Robert Alan MOULTON. John Francis died 4 Map 1977 in Livonia, NY.
