John George Pell 1868 - 1929

John George Pell of Kyabram Australia was born on February 22, 1868 in Kyneton, Macedon Ranges Shire County, VIC to Mary Limbrick Pell and William Pell Jr.. He had siblings William Pell, Mary Pell Rathbone, Ada Pell Neal, Robert Pell, Albert Ernest Pell, Emily Victoria Pell, Walter Charles Pell, Caroline Elizabeth Pell, Charles Richard Pell, and Eileen Pell. He married Emma Jane (Robinson) Pell in 1889, and had children Holberry Welford Pell, Irene Alice Pell, Hannah Eliza Pell, Francis Arthur John Pell, Lillian Mary Jane Pell, John George Pell, and Emma Ada Electra Pell. John Pell died at age 61 years old on October 13, 1929 in Kyabram.

It was for the electric vote recorder and was designed to make voting quicker and the counting of votes more accurate. Congress didn't like the idea so Edison's voting machine was never used.

In 1873, John was only 5 years old when on February 12th, The Coinage Act of 1873 was signed by President Ulysses S. Grant. It went into effect on April 1st and ended the use of gold and silver in the U.S. for currency - placing the country on the gold standard. The Act wasn't popular with everyone.
