Hannah Eliza (Pell) Ball of Kyabram Australia was born in 1891 in Kyabram, VIC to John George Pell and Emma Jane (Robinson) Pell. She had siblings Irene Alice Pell, Lillian Mary Jane Pell, Emma Ada Electra Pell, Holberry Welford Pell, Francis Arthur John Pell, and John George Pell. She married Charles Temple Ball in 1913, and had children Evelyn Doris Ball and Edmund Charles Ball. Hannah Ball died at age 91 years old on March 20, 1983 in Kyabram.

In 1919, at the age of 28 years old, Hannah was alive when in January, Nebraska was the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment, making it the law of the land. The 18th Amendment established Prohibition - a law against the production, transport, and sale of alcohol. Private consumption and possession were not prohibited. Several months later, the Volstead Act was passed, creating laws to enforce the Amendment. Bootlegging and bathtub gin followed.
