  • Obituary

John Peterson, son of Hans Peterson, died at the home of his parents, in Clinton county, on Wednesday morning last, of cerebro spinal meningitis, aged 17 years. It was a case of the dread disease in its most malignant form. The young man had followed the plow in the field all day Monday and was not stricken with the fatal disease until Tuesday morning, death resulting on Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours thereafter. Dr. Sugg informs us that the children in the families of Messrs. Peter Peterson, Nagle and McDermott, who have been suffering from spinal meningitis are so far recovered as to be out of danger. Three deaths have resulted from the disease since its appearance in this vicinity, over a month ago. -Sabula Gazette Lyons Weekly Mirror, Clinton, Iowa, Saturday, April 28th, 1883 Page: 8
