John "Chuckie" Kotyk was born to Gregory Kotyk (1888-1976) and Xenia barna (1892-1962), and had three brothers and three sisters: Wallace (1918-1994), Mary Gladys (1923-1989), Paul (1925-1991), Michael (1929-2019), Genevieve E. (1932-2013), and Luby Y. Kotyk born in 1936. John married Mary Varhola (born 1922) on May 14th 1946 and they had three children Daria, Alan, and Dennis Johnathan Kotyk who was born in 1952 and passed away in 2020. John was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Intelligence 9th Airforce P47 Squadron in France, and worked for Ford Motor Company for many years.

John "Chuckie" Kotyk, 91, formerly of Ford City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in Rochester Mills, Mich. He was a loving husband, father and brother. Born May 20, 1921, in Ford City, he was the third child of Gregory and Xenia (Barna) Kotyk. He married Mary Varhola, of Charleroi, May 14, 1946. Married 67 years, Mary is currently residing in Rochester Hills, Mich. Surviving are son, Dennis (Kerry), of Rochester Hills, Mich.; grandsons, Ryan and Chase; son, Alan, of St. Augustine, Fla.; grandsons, Christopher, John and Paul; daughter, Daria, of San Diego, Calif.; granddaughters, Lydia and Adele; his brother, Michael Kotyk, of New Kensington; and sister, Luby (Gavran), of Ford City; and many nieces and nephews survive him. John graduated from Ford City High school and entered the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in the Army intelligence, 9th Airforce, P47 Squadron in France. He returned home to Ford City and married Mary. He then graduated from Georgetown University, Foreign Affairs, Washington, D.C. and went to work for Ford Motor Company, in International Affairs. He worked with Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson and then was transferred to Michigan, to Ford Corporate, and retired in 1987. John and Mary then moved to Hilton Head , S.C., where they lived in bliss for 25 years. John's passions were visiting family and golf- which he played almost daily with childhood friends. There will be a short memorial/interment service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery/Chapel, Ford City. - Leader Times July 16th 2015ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
