John my dad was a neat funny and very caring guy. He was a man of many trades & not afraid of a challenge.Growing up with my dad made my childhood very adventorous & fun.I got to live in our big house that was attatched to the ma & pop style hotel my dad opened in the mid 60's when I was born & I got to grow up meeting tons of new friends who would visit our motel. Some became regular yearly guests who would stay at dads motel to visit famous Niagra Falls & other Canada attractions.I remember we had a pool for motel guests & I grew up having a nice pool to play & swim in with my friends. We also got to have slumber parties in the hotel rooms & my dad was such a great party giver.I will never forget those days.As I got older times changed & dad made the hotel into monthly rentals & helped folks who were less fortunate with a place to live.I remember how kind he was to people who had nowhere to turn. Christmas was the best when my dad was alive.I think I midd those times the most.Every Christmas Eve we would pack up the car with prsents we bought & head down the highway to Rochester NY where my Aunt Terry and Uncle Art lived with cousin Jimmy. It was a big celebration & all the family got together. My aunt Kay & uncle Bob & cousin Kerry from NJ would come to Rochester for Christmas too. It was the most exciting time of the year just like the song It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year! We would gather round the table for great food & fellowship & as little kids I remember Santa coming to my aunts housr & the big hill in the yard covered witha white blanket of snow waiting for my dad to take me out to sled down it.It was so much fun.Being with dad was so much fun & with all my family. After the snow activities & dinner we all sat around my aunts beautifully decorated Christmas tree & exchanged tons of presents. That was a very fun special time. Especially as kids waiting in anticipation to see what was inside the nicely wrapped boxes.Even as we got older & into adult hood sitting around my aunts tree with our families exchanging & opening each others presents was the best. My dad kept the family together it seemed.Everyone always met every Christmas eve as long as I can remember when my dad was alive. From the time I was born & can recall until Christmas 1986 my dad's lady Christmas with us, I dont think we ever missed a Christmas eve at Aunt Terrys & Uncle Arts in Rocheste since I was born until my dad died in 1987 & everyone of those Christmas's with Dad & the famly will be remembered & I hold in my heart to this day. I only wish we had ipads & dvd digitals ect like we do now to easily store all of all those memories like we have in these times.
