He married Margaret Henderson Clinnick in 1857, and had children John William Clinnick, Thomas Lobb Clinnick, Margaret Ann Clinnick, Eliza Jane Clinnck, William Henry Clinnick, George Clinnick, Arthur Clinnick, Jonah Clinnick, Minnie Clinnick, Richard James Clinnick, and Moses Clifford Clinnick. John Clinnick died at age 59 years old on January 24, 1902 in Geelong, Greater Geelong City County, VIC Australia.
