John Nightingale 1832 - 1915

John Nightingale was born in 1832 at Ely in Cambridgeshire County, England United Kingdom. He was in a relationship with Frances Nightingale ( Phillips, and had children Florence Cadden ( Nightingale, Kossuth Nightingale, Grace Findlater ( Nightingale, Maud Florence Cameron ( Nightingale, Joseph Garibaldi Nightingale, and Camps Nightingale. John Nightingale died at age 82 years old in July 1915 in Alexandria, Council of the City of Sydney County, NSW Australia, and was buried on July 23, 1915 at Rookwood Cemetery 43 East St, in Lidcombe, Auburn City Council County.

In 1832, in the year that John Nightingale was born, on November 14th, Charles Carroll - the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence - died at his home in Maryland. He was 95 years old. He signed the Declaration as "Charles Carroll of Carrollton", distinguishing him from several other Charles Carroll's who were living in the area at the time.
Did you know?
In 1846, John was merely 14 years old when on November 4th, the Donner Party was stranded in the Sierra Nevada on its way to California. The ill-fated wagon train was snowed in and couldn't get out of the mountains for 3 months. Some went for help - on foot - but the majority of the 87 people in the wagon train were stuck in heavy snow, without food. Only 48 of the original settlers survived - some by cannibalism of the dead.
