I was born Elaine"Eleni" Perry, after John Perry's mother, Helen ( Eleni ) Picholas.
My name for the most of my life is Silver Elaine Perry Hobart of North Fort Myers Florida...Named after his Momma Helen "Eleni" Picholas. Her maiden name was Migou, or Meegou, Meggou..or we think it was close to that as she was given this spelling as she arrived on Ellis Island.
John's father was George Picholas...
At least that was the name given him on Ellis Island.

J.Perry has 2 daughters from his first car wreck of a marriage to Helen.
They are Angela Perry now Sarno
Constance "Connie"Perry now Shannon.

In 1923, in the year that John Perry was born, the A.C. Nielsen Company was founded in Chicago. It provided an audience measurement system that could provide radio station owners with information on their listeners and the popularity of their shows. Later, the Nielsen company became the basis for the fate of television programs.
In 1931, when he was merely 8 years old, on May 1st, the Empire State Building opened in New York City. At 1,454 feet (including the roof and antenna), it was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center's North Tower was built in 1970. (It is now the 34th tallest.) Opening at the beginning of the Great Depression, most of the offices in the Empire State Building remained unoccupied for years and the observation deck was an equal source of revenue and kept the building profitable.
In 1953, at the age of 30 years old, John was alive when on January 20th, Dwight D. Eisenhower became the 34th President of the United States. Formerly the 1st Supreme Allied Commander Europe in World War II, Eisenhower had never previously held a political office.
In 1961, he was 38 years old when on August 13th, East Germany began erection of what would become the Berlin Wall between East and West Berlin. In one day, they installed barbed wire entanglements and fences (called Barbed Wire Sunday in Germany). On August 17th, the first concrete elements and large blocks were put in place.
In 1982, by the time he was 59 years old, on June 30th, time ran out on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The Amendment had only received 35 of the necessary 38 state ratifications. First sent to the states in 1972, the Amendment stated that "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex".
