He was born in Pompeii, Gratiot, Michigan and had siblings including John Joseph (1835-1915), William (1887-1959), Mary Catherine (1895-1978) and William Frank Polachek (1921-1922). He also had multiple half siblings. On August 17, 1940 he married Marguerita Ellen Wilson (1924-2012) in Corunna, Michigan, USA. They had children together including a son named Richard Allen Polachek Sr (1941-2017). Joseph joined the Army in January of 1943, and served for two years being discharged in October of 1945. Joseph Polachek passed away in Allen, Collin, Texas, USA on June 27, 1999.
