    Joseph Edward Kosack III was born July 26, 1922, in Philadelphia, PA to parents Joseph Edward Kosack (1898-1955) and Anne (Sheain) Kosack (1898-1983). He had a sister, Marie Katherine Kosack Barrett (1920–1993). He was a graduate of Vincennes University and also attended Millikin University. Joseph enlisted on October 9, 1942 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Air Force and was a World War II veteran. Joe married Betty Naomi Diel (1926-2018) on November 30, 1946, at First United Methodist Church in Olney after meeting her at a George Field dance, and she remained the love of his life. They had children together including Joseph Richard Kosack (1949-2013) and Cary Craig Kosack (1954-2020). He was retired from WVLN radio station in Olney, where he was well known for 26 years as announcer and program director. Joe won many awards over the years and he had a great voice that became familiar in community households. He belonged to the Olney Lions Club and the Boy Scouts, where he served as Scoutmaster in the only troop in the country for handicapped scouts. He loved music and singing and enjoyed singing solo songs at his church for many occasions. When there was a city production to be put on, he was always one of the first to volunteer.

Joseph Edward Kosack III Obituary
Joseph E. Kosack, III, 86, of Olney, died at 4:14 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Brady Farr officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney with full military rites performed by Olney veterans.

Mr. Kosack is survived by his wife, Betty Kosack, of Olney; sons, Dr. Joseph Richard Kosack and his wife, Victoria, of Paradise Valley, Ariz., and Cary Kosack, of Olney; daughters, Constance Drewes and her husband, Dr. Michael Drewes, of Champaign, and Kathy Greene and her husband, Terry, of Gilbert, Ariz.; a sister, Anne Johnson, of Wynnewood, Pa.; and two cousins, Louis Sheain, of Jenkinstown, Pa., and Frank Sheain, of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer Barrueta, David Kosack, Christopher, Brett, Beau, Carly and Schuyler Drewes, Cara Jo, Rob and Jesse Kosack, and Tyler, Erika, Lauren and Nick Greene; and seven great-grandchildren. Locally, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Leona Street; nephew, Dr. and Mrs. Gary Street; and niece, Sharon Burt.

Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America.
