The History of Bimonte's
It all started over 50 years ago . . .

Joe Bimonte, was in a small kitchen in New Haven. learning how to make fine Italian pizza. He wanted more! More topping varieties, and more choices for his customers. That is how Bimonte's Pizza was originated! He decided to branch off on his own, with his own ideas. Taking many years of planning and working three jobs to save up every penny he had, he was finally able to rent a very small store front on Whitney Avenue in Hamden, Connecticut, which he transformed into his first, tiny pizza shop.

The year was 1969. The outcome was so positive for him that within a few years he needed more room! He made an offer to the building owner, and he eventually purchased the entire corner property. The transformation into Bimonte's Pizza Castle followed, complete with the castle style windows and stained glass as well!

Years passed, as did a variety of different, spectacular culinary edibles. The popularity of his famous food allowed him many benefits throughout the years. He catered for the New Haven Coliseum's famous concerts, such as Cher, Liberace, The Carpenters, Glenn Campbell, and Liza Minelli, to name a few.

He sponsored little league and Middle and High School sports teams. He was chosen as one of the best pizza restaurants in Connecticut in a poll on the television show PM Magazine. His charisma and fun-loving personality followed him wherever he went. He was well known and an outstanding figure in the town of Hamden, Connecticut up until his passing on December 1, 1996.
