He was in a relationship with Mehitable (Ladd) Tyler beginning September 28, 1792, and had children Asa Ladd Tyler, Arza Tyler, George W Tyler, Jerusha (Tyler) Lake, Hannah Ladd (Tyler) Mecham, John L Tyler, Walter B Tyler, Stephen Chapman Tyler, and Asenath (Tyler) Brownson. Joseph Tyler died at age 83 years old on October 30, 1853 in IA.
