Joshua Thomas Martin 1859 - 1905

Joshua Thomas Martin of Geelong Australia was born in 1859 in Duneed to Joyce Irving Martin and Caleb Martin. He had a sister Phoebe Agnes Martin. He married Amy Rosina (Hebuirn) Martin, and had children Joyce Elizabeth (Martin) Barling, Wilfred Thomas Martin, Amy Agnes (Martin) Mousley, Eustace Irving Martin, Joshua Caleb Martin, Muriel Margaret Martin, and Herbert Percival Martin. Joshua Martin died at age 46 years old in 1905 at Chilwell in Geelong, and was buried at Eastern Cemetery in East Geelong, Greater Geelong City County, VIC.

The Geelong Advertiser. Victoria. 7th June 1905. SUICIDE AT CHILWELL. A STONEMASON SHOOTS HIMSELF. A DELIBERATE ACT. A tragic suicide occurred at Chilwell yesterday afternoon, at about 4:30 o'clock, in Belfast-street, when Joshua Thomas Martin, in a manner which was evidently preconceived and deliberate, shot himself with a single barrel shot gun. The affair was reported to the Newtown police by Wilfred Martin, aged 18, a son of the deceased...........

The Geelong Advertiser. Vic. 7th June 1905. MARTIN. - On the 6th June, at his residence, Belfast-street, off Fyans-street, Marnock Vale, Joshua Thomas, the beloved husband of Amy Martin, aged 45 years. Friends are respectfully informed that the funeral will leave his late residence, Belfast Street, off Fyans-street, Marnock Vale, on Thursday the 8th June, at 2:30 p.m. for the Eastern Cemetery.
