Jane Mann Dallas, TX Age: 87 - 09/07/1929 AKA: Jane Beglen mann , Jane B Mann , K Obit of brother: Beglen, Richard J. August 20, 2004 Richard J. "Dick" Beglen, 73, of Chicago, died on Aug. 18, 2004, in Richardson, TX. He was born July 1, 1931 in Pittsburg, PA to Harry F. and Kathryn Beglen. Dick grew up in Kenilworth, IL and graduated from New Trier High School and Colgate University. He had a lifelong career with Reynolds Aluminum, where he was a Regional Sales Manager. Dick was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Barrington, IL. Survived by his sister, Jane Beglen Mann of Dallas, TX; brother, Jack Beglen of Sonoma, CA; nieces and nephews, Jack and Polly Crocker, of Evanston, IL, Patsy Crocker of Chicago, IL, Kay and Jim Herndon of Dallas, TX, Gerald and Linda Mann of Dallas, TX and Barbara and John Valle of Atlanta, GA; nine grandnieces, grandnephews, and many friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Signature Pointe on the Lake for their years of dedication to Dick; also Richardson Regional Medical Center for their kindness. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to support research at the Alzheimer's Disease Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center to UT Southwestern Medical Center, P.O. In 1929, in the year that Kathryn Jane Beglen was born, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre happened on February 14th. In Chicago, seven men from the North Side Irish gang were gunned down by Al Capone's South Side Italian gang at the garage at 2122 North Clark Street. Al Capone was making a successful move to take over Chicago's organized crime. But the St. Valentine's Day massacre also resulted in a public outcry against all gangsters.
