"In Lithuania, Kazimier worked for a Jewish blacksmith making horseshoes. He took his daughter Mary to work. She and the owner's daughter, Rifka, played with the horseshoe nails." Mary Leikauskas related this story many times reminiscing about her childhood.

"Kazimier lived with Ursule Zitkus when he came over from Lithuania. He was only married once. Mrs. Drumsta was a first cousin to Mary and Ursule. The Cvilikas family lived in Warrior Run. Albert's father was Jacob, a first cousin to Mary and Ursule. Ursule, Mary, and Kazimier were the only ones who came to America. Kazimier worked in the mines. Marcelle Zvirblis didn't come because she was going to give birth to a son, Anthony (Uncle Tony). He also never came to America. They stayed back in Kaisiadorys with the older sister Emily. Marcelle became very sick from childbirth and Emily raised the baby." As told to me by Mary Bigenis in 2002 Mary also added: "Drumsta's father was a Zvirblis so that made Mary's mother (Marcelle) brother and sister. Kazimier's brothers were: Stanley (Baltrus Cvilikas's father), Jacob, and Justin (Ustinas). Drumsta's brother was in America and sponsored them. Ursule and Mary got tickets for a ship. When they tried to board the ship in Prussia, both were caught and sent back. They made a second attempt but this time it was a poor cheap boat and conditions were terrible. There was nothing to eat but boiled potatoes and prunes and they suffered seasickness for most of the trip. They were 11 days on the water. They arrived in N.Y. at Ellis Island in October 1913."
