The following appeared in The Des Moines Register on July 11th 2007: Larry Kopaska, Guthrie Center Larry Kopaska, 64, of Gutherie Center, son of Arnold & Lois (Sheeder) Kopaska, was born December 9th, 1942 in Jefferson, Iowa. He passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007 at his cabin in Palmer, Alaska. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1961. On November 24, 1962, he married Judy Kinman in Adair, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born. They made their home on a farm west of Guthrie Center. He worked as a farmer and was a jack of all trades. He could invent or fix anything. He enjoyed to hunt, fly in his airplane, work on cars, cook, riding his motorcyle, fishing, going to car shows & races, skiing, roller skating, & since 1995, going to his cabin in Alaska. He also white water rafted in the Grand Canyon and he invented a pressurized dripless coupling. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center and at one time the Isaac Walton League. He is survived by his wife Judy of Gutherie Center, daughters Mechiel Kopaska & future husband Daniel Cooley of Odessa, FL, Melinda & husband Monte Jorgensen of Guthrie Center, and Melissa Kopaska & companion Joe Mallahan of Springdale, Arkansas. Three grandchildren Michaela, Madisyn, and McKlain Jorgensen. Future step-grandchildren Brooke and Bryce Cooley. Sister Andrea & husband Steve Brubaker of Gutherie Center and nephew Steve & wife Kimberly Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Guthrie Center. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. with family rpesent from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beidelman-Twigg Funeral Home Guthrie Center.
