    Source: Newspapers.com Citizens' Voice - 21 Sep 1987, Mon - Page 20 - (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) Mrs. Laura K. Wendel Mrs. Laura K. Wendel, 82, of 1640 Murray St., Forty Fort, died early Saturday morning at her home following an illness. Born in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late George N. and Maggie Holingshead Cahler. She was a graduate of Bloomsburg Normal School Class of 1924. She formerly taught elementary education in Hershey for several years. Mrs. Wendel later taught for the Crippled Children's Association at Kirby Memorial Health Center, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Forty Fort United Methodist Church, where she was past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service and the former Robinson Sunday School Class. She also held many other church offices and helped to establish the former Council of Church Women of Wyoming Valley. Her husband, Alfred L. Wendel, died Sept. 9, 1985. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jean Herbert, Forty Fort; son, Alfred L., Massachusetts; sister, Mrs. Josephine Bennett, Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. from the Hugh B. Hughes and Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with Rev. Robb Henderson, pastor, Luzerne United Methodist Church, and Eileen Kellogg, student assistant pastor, Forty Fort United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery.
