He arrived in New York, New York on the ship "Neptunia", with his spouse Ourania "Nora" Tampakis in 1950. Leon first entered the United States on February 26th, 1921 according to his naturalization records. Leon and Nora (1901 - 1980) married on April 19th, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey and applied for naturalization on April 1, 1930 in the Bronx, New York. He was naturalized on November 20th, 1933 in New York City. On his 1942 World War II draft card, Leon was described as being 6 feet tall and as weighing 184 pounds. He had hazel eyes, brown hair, and a "light" complexion.
