Police: Man shoots self, girlfriend
Battle Creek Enquirer (Battle Creek, Michigan) 25 Apr 1999

Kalamazoo Township - A Kalamazoo County man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend before turning the gun on himself, police said.

Randy Scott Hayward, 36, apparently was distraught over the breakup with Lisa Kay Hadaway, 33, and had tried to continue contact with her before the shooting Thursday, investigators said.

Hayward had lived until January with Hadaway, who has children ages 9 and 3, police said.

It appears her children . . . were in the house and either saw or realized what happened and ran to their grandmother's Kalamazoo Township police Lt Tim Bourgeois said.
