He grew up in Leicester, Livingston, New York, United States and was a mechanic helper in his early carreer and then moved to Queens, NY and worked as a Stationary Engineer for a Rubber Company. On April 5, 1942 Lou married Elizabeth Katherine Lambert (1919–1986) in New York, USA. The couple resided in Flushing, NY and had a daughter together named Mary. Louis Polidora passed away on August 2, 2008 in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.

He had siblings Samuel Raymond Polidoro (1914-2012), Caroline Polidoro (1915-1988), Rita Margaret Polidoro (1917-1986), William Joseph Polidoro (1918-2012), Gilda Rose Polidoro (1922-2006), Angie Mary Polidoro (1924-2016), Sue Polidoro (1926-2014), and Filomena Rosaria Polidoro (1928-2018). They were an Italian family as both of his parents were born in Italy and immigrated to the US. His father Vincenzo Polidoro was born on March 1, 1891 in Monte San Biagio, Lazio, Italy. He immigrated to the states arriving in New York, New York on September 16, 1909. He lived in Leicester, Livingston, New York and married Maria on July 3, 1813 in Manhattan, New York, USA. The couple later resided in Queens, New York, USA and Vincenzo passed away on August 17, 1951 in Flushing, Queens, New York, USA. His mother Maria Barlone was born on February 22, 1891 in Monte San Biagio, Caserta, Campania, Italy. She immigrated to the US arriving in New York City on July 1, 1913 and two days later married Vincenzo. She lived in Leicester, Livingston, New York and passed away on April 26, 1974 in Flushing, Queens, New York, USA.

Louis Polidora

My grandparents, Louis & Elizabeth (“Louie” and “Betty”) Polidora, around the time that they got married in 1942. He served in the Armed Guard of the US Navy during WWII as an armed unit on Merchant Marine ships.

He was the heart of our family

Louis was my grandfather. He lived for his family: his wife, Betty; my mother, Mary; my son and me. My mother, my son and I were all only children.
Grandpa was a hard worker, growing his own garden in his small backyard in Queens, NY, where he lived from when he and my grandmother got married in 1942 until 2007, when his health started to really decline and moved in with my parents in Virgina. He was a WWII Navy veteran and was proud member of VFW Post 885 in College Point, NY. He lived to fish and was a members of Five Corners Fishing Club. He fished until he was in his late 70’s and his mobility was declining. He was a fabulous cook, as were most of his siblings. He and his sister, Rose, would cook for events at the VFW hall. My grandfather was my best friend and my I miss him everyday.
