Louis Salvatore Seminara Jr. 1920 - 1979

Louis Salvatore Seminara Jr. was born on November 22, 1920 in Jamesburg, Middlesex County, New Jersey United States to Louis Salvatore Seminara and Sylvia Theresa Seminara, and had siblings Charles Joseph Seminara, Marion (Seminara) Ippolito, Anna Theresa Seminara, Antoinette Anna Seminara, Francis Joseph Seminara, Salvatore Joseph Seminara, Josephine Ann Eufemia, Michael Joseph Seminara, Lucy Ann Seminara, Joseph Antonio Seminara, and Laurence Joseph Seminara. He married Blanche Loretta Seminara on November 16, 1957 in South River, Middlesex County, and they were married until Louis' death on January 19, 1979 at St Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick. He had a child Taryn Sylvia Zelesny. Louis Seminara was buried on January 23, 1979 at Saint Mary Cemetery in East Brunswick.

In 1920, in the year that Louis Salvatore Seminara Jr. was born, the National Football League, first called the American Professional Football Association, was created. College football was more popular than pro football and rising player salaries were bankrupting league owners. In response, owners created the NFL, using the pro baseball association as a model. Eleven teams were formed: the Akron Pros, Canton Bulldogs, Cleveland Indians, Dayton Triangles, Decatur Staleys, Hammond Pros, Massillon Tigers, Muncie Flyers, Racine Cardinals, Rochester Jeffersons and Rock Island Independents.

In 1945, Louis was 25 years old when on March 12th, a riot erupted at a Japanese internment camp in Santa Fe New Mexico. Two days earlier, white shirts with the Rising Sun on the back had been confiscated and the prisoners objected. Three leaders of the protest were removed and sent to another camp. Guards at the Santa Fe camp were armed with submachine guns, shotguns, and gun masks. On the morning of the 12th, prisoners began throwing rocks at the guards. When the "rioters" wouldn't disperse, the guards were ordered to use tear gas and batons. Four men were badly injured as a result.
