Salvatore Joseph Seminara of Howell, Monmouth County, New Jersey United States was born on October 3, 1918 in Jamesburg, Middlesex County to Louis Salvatore Seminara and Sylvia Theresa Seminara. He had siblings Charles Joseph Seminara, Marion (Seminara) Ippolito, Anna Theresa Seminara, Antoinette Anna Seminara, Francis Joseph Seminara, Josephine Ann Eufemia, Michael Joseph Seminara, Lucy Ann Seminara, Joseph Antonio Seminara, Laurence Joseph Seminara, and Louis Salvatore Seminara Jr.. He married Helen (Poplowski) Seminara circa 1944 in Marlboro , Monmouth County, NJ, and they were married until Salvatore's death on December 6, 2007 in Howell Township. He had children Kathleen Serbin Mersinger, Patricia Serbin Seminara, and Linda Anne Stevenson. Salvatore Seminara was buried on December 10, 2007 in Jamesburg, Middlesex County.

    Salvatore J. Seminara,89,of Howell,died Thursday Dec. 6,2007 at his home. Born in Jamesburg,Mr. Seminara lived in Marlboro for many years before moving to Villages community in Howell,36 years ago. He was employed for over 40 years as a presser at Seminara's Dress Factory,Jamesburg,before retiring in 1983. Mr. Seminara was a Navy veteran of WWII,serving in the CBs in the South Pacific and attaining the rank of Gunner's mate 3c. He was predeceased by six brothers,Joseph,Laurence,Michael,Charles,Frank and Louis,and two sisters,Antoinette Seminara and Marion Ippolito. Surviving are a wife of 63 years,Helen Poplowski Seminara;three daughters,Kathleen Mersinger of Cedar Grove,Linda Stevenson of West Belmar,and Patricia Seminara of Woodstock,N.Y.;three sisters,Anna Seminara of Washington D.C.,Lucy Seminara of Jamesburg,and Josephine Eufemia of Spring Hill,FL;and three grandchildren,Erik and Aubree Stevenson and Drew Mersinger. Services will begin 9:30 A.M. Monday,at Lester Memorial Home,16 W. Church St.,Jamesburg,followed by a 10 A.M. Funeral Liturgy at St. James R.C. Church,Jamesburg. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery,Jamesburg. Visiting hours for family and friends will be from 2 P.M.-4 P.M. and 7 P.M. and 7 P.M.-9 P.M. Sunday,at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

In 1918, in the year that Salvatore Joseph Seminara was born, on November 1, an elevated train on the Brooklyn line of the subway - driven by an inexperienced operator because of a strike - tried to navigate a turn at 30mph. The limit on the curve was 6 mph. The 2nd and 3rd cars of the 5 car wooden train were badly damaged and at least 93 people were killed, making it the deadliest crash in New York subway history.

In 1923, Salvatore was just 5 years old when on November 8th and 9th, Adolf Hitler and his followers (the early Nazi party) staged the "Beer Hall Putsch" in Munich in an attempt to take over Bavaria (a state in Germany). They failed. Hitler was charged with treason and convicted, receiving a sentence of 5 years. He served under 1 year in jail.
