She was married to Peter Campbell McDonald, and had children Louisa Millicent McDonald Cook, Florrie Lindrea, Jessie Emerson, Elsie Irene Pearce, Jennie Rogers, Ethel Rogers, John Hamilton Rogers, Janet Brennan, Hector Claude McDonald, Archibald Douglas McDonald, Angus Campbell McDonald, Ada Isabel Randall, and Phyllis Jean Fowler. Louisa McDonald died at age 80 years old on August 4, 1947 in Greater Bendigo City County.

Louisa Elizabeth's first seven children (Louisa, Florence, Jessie, Elsie, Jennie, Ethel and John) were born before her marriage to Peter Campbell McDonald, and were presumably not his children, as he was not named as father on any of their birth certificates and/or registrations. Despite the fact that their birth certificates showed their surnames as "ROGERS", they were brought up using the surname of "McDONALD". Louisa and Peter were married only 9 days ahead of the birth of Janet. Other children were Hector, Archibald, Angus, Ada and Phyllis. Children born after their marriage (Janet to Phyllis) all had Peter shown as their father on their birth certificate/registrations, and these were the only children listed on Peter's death certificate/registration.
