Lydia Ledford was the daughter of John Ledford b. 1875 Harlan, Ky. & Mintie Jones ` Ledford b. 1881. Lydia was about 2 yr. old when her mother, Mintie Jones`Ledford, died of T.B. Her father, John Ledford, was absent so the children were given away. There is no records indicating either an adoption or a Guardianship on any of the children. However, I have recently discovered Lydia was in fact adopted by a couple by the last name of Pratt, in Michigan. Her year of birth was also changed from 1908 to 1906. Lydia returned to Harlan, Kentucky to visit & reunite with her sisters Pearlie & Martha, once when she was married to Ballard Collins. She was the youngest of 6 living children. Siblings were ; Pearlie Mae Ledford` Farmer Martha Ledford` Farley Shelby Ledford Henry Ledford Willie Ledford All born in Cranks, Kentucky.
