She had siblings Mary Ann (Hollioak) Boykett, William Hollioak, and Henry Charles Hollioake. She married William Hebbert Boykett in 1876, and had children Hannah Elizabeth (Boykett) Gregory, Mary Ann Boykett, Sarah (Boykett) Madden, William Charles Boykett, and Francis King Boykett. Margaret Boykett died at age 69 years old on August 23, 1926 at Caulfield South, in Melbourne, and was buried at Brighton General Cemetery in Caulfield South, City of Glen Eira County.

In 1856, in the year that Margaret (Hollioak) Boykett was born, on February 18th, The American Party, also called the "Know-Nothings" because they were an anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant movement, assembled in Philadelphia to nominate their first Presidential candidate, former President Millard Fillmore. The party sought to keep the "purity" of elections by blocking "impure" foreigners.

In 1884, by the time she was 28 years old, on May 1st, the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions - a US association - first resolved that "eight hours shall constitute a legal day's labour from and after May 1, 1886, and that we recommend to labour organisations throughout this jurisdiction that they so direct their laws as to conform to this resolution by the time named." Previously, workdays would consist of 10 to 16 hours a day - 6 days a week. It would take years before the 8 hour workday became common practice - and longer before it became a law.
