She married Alexander Phillip Atkins in 1901, and had children William Phillip Atkins, Kenneth Ernest Atkins, Alexander Atkins, Walter Atkins, Margaret Atkins, Leslie Atkins, Edward Atkins, Mary Atkins, and Isabella Atkins. Margaret Atkins died at age 75 years old on April 28, 1948 in Glenormiston South.

Still seaworthy, under partial sail, and with one lifeboat missing, what happened on her is still a mystery. Her cargo and provisions were intact and she was used as a cargo vessel for another 12 years but the people onboard were never seen again
