Mark Von Striver was a programmer, an engineer, an inventor, a photographer, a foodie, an entrepreneur, a father, a brother and a son. As a boy, Mark was always fascinated with the latest gadgets. On occasion, he could be found attempting to memorize an encyclopedia. In high school, he was recruited to the emerging field of computer programming. He excelled in jobs with Atari and Intel, in their early years. Mark loved the outdoors and communed with nature whenever he could. When he wasn't living in Lake Tahoe, he could be found on backpacking trips with loved ones, motorcycle rides with friends or practicing nature photography. He imparted this love of nature on his family. On their long car rides up to Tahoe and elsewhere, Mark and his children would play "Guess the Animal," and Mark always had a Rock Hyrax or something up his sleeve. His two children both went on to study natural sciences in college. On these long trips in his Isuzu Trooper when they weren't talking about animals, they could be caught listening to Eric Clapton or James Taylor CDs or debating the nature of the universe to pass the time. But it was these captive sessions that brought them together. Mark loved his family. He never missed a family get-together, an opportunity to play his guitar or to sell the family on his chocolate lava cake or other creations. He was thrilled to learn that he was going to be a grandfather. There is an entire family that will be without free computer repair services! Mark was an inventor. His talking Zooboxes graced the cages of many zoos and his Harmonizer Carburetor Balancing Tool helped many motorcyclists tune their bikes. He loved to adventure. He loved to dream. He loved to make terrible jokes. He was born in San Andreas, but it's not his fault. Rest in Peace
