She had siblings Victoria (Heavyside) Stevens, Margaret Jane (Heavyside) Richardson, Richard Heavyside, William Henry Lawrence Heavyside, Grace (Heavyside) Casey, Thomas Heavyside, Agnes Ann (Heavyside) Terry, Alice Heavyside Pollard, and George Robertson Heavyside. She was in a relationship with Joseph Boston, and had children Ethel Isabella Boston, Beatrice Grace Boston, Alice Jessie May Boston, Joseph Boston Jr., Earnest Godfrey Boston, Salina Maude (Boston) Roberts, and John Thomas Boston. Martha Boston died at age 79 years old in October 1960 in White Hills.

In 1896, Martha was 16 years old when in April, the first study on global warming due to CO2 - carbon dioxide - in the atmosphere was published by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius. Arrhenius concluded that human activity due to the Industrial Revolution would amplify CO2 in the atmosphere, causing a greenhouse effect. His conclusions have been extensively tested in the ensuing 100+ years and are still seen to hold true.
