    Martin Wood Green, son of James Green, Jr (1783-1851) and Delcena Stallard (1781-1842) of Virginia. Married Elizabeth "Betty" Gillenwater 05 Sep 1852, Scott Co, VA. Martin was a teacher and a composer of poetry. A descendant in McCamer, Texas sent the he poem Martin wrote to aid his students in learning the Date of admission of the states into a newspaper in VA.: "In 17 hundred and 91, Vermount was added under Washington. Then came Kentucky in '92 Which made 15 if history's true. Then Tennessee as we have seen, In '96 which made 16 Ohio 17th in 18 and 2, Was added in, 'tis very true. In 18 and 12 Louisiana was seen, Among the rest which made 18 In 18 and 16 Indiana we find, As the 19th State along the line. In 1817 Mississippi came too, As the 20th State we have in view. In 1818 as history does relate, Illinois joined as 21st State In 18 and 19 Alabama came in time, Which made 22 to finish the rhyme. Maine then joined which made 23, In 1820 you surely can see. In '21 which made one more, Missourijoined which counts 24. In '36 Arkansas arrived, Into the union which made 25. Michigan then which made 26, In '37 into the Union pitch. Florida then in 45, Made 27 as sure as you're alive. Texas then counts 28 In '45 made one more State. Iowa then makes 29. In '46 she also joined. In '48 Wisconsin linked, Which makes 30, I certainly think. In 18 and 17 California came, Which makes 31 or history's blamed. Minnesota then makes 32, In '58 she joined 'tis true. Oregon then on hand we see, In '59 made 33. Kansas then will count one more, In '61 made 34. West Virginia makes 35, In '62 she made her drive. Nevada when she got in fix, In '64 made 26. Ibex was estabished on the 19th of August in 1880 on Powder Mill Branch of the Little Sandy River by Martin Wood Green who named it for the wild mountain goat of the Alps." Enlisted in Company K, Kentucky 5th Infantry Regiment on 26 Mar 1862 [The 5th Kentucky Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment that served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War]
