2 Memories, Stories & Photos about Mary

Mary Alice Scanlon
Mary Alice Scanlon
I have an old studio photograph of Mary SCANLON of Alstead which was taken 5 Dec 1886 at the Elmer Chickering Studio in Boston, MA. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mary and her family:

Mary Alice SCANLON was b. 9 Mar 1855 in Alstead, NH to parents David P. SCANLON or SCANLEN (b. Mar 1824 in Ireland) and Johanna or Joanna or Josephine O’SHEA or LAWLER or LOWLOR (b. 1832 in Ireland) who were married in 1854. The family appears in the 1860 census of Alstead, NH as follows:

David SCANLON, age 34
Johanna SCANLON, age 28
Mary SCANLON, age 5

Another child David SCANLON (1860-1891) was born just after the census was taken and he died 10 Aug 1891 in Ashburnham, MA. Mary Alice SCANLON died 22 Jan 1937 in Dixon, IL where she was the Matron at the Episcopal Home. Her brother David was married to Delia Anastasia HARRIMAN (1861-1949) on 18 Sept 1890 in Winchendon, MA and they had a son Richard Harriman SCANLON (1891-1921) who was born the same year his father died.

I’d like to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
