    Mary Ann Biziewski Obituary | Condolences Mary Ann Biziewski Obituary Mary Ann Biziewski October 28, 1919 - April 13, 2012 NORWICH - Mary Ann Biziewski of Norwich died quietly in her home on Friday morning, April 13, following an extended illness. Mary was born October 28, 1919 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Frank and Stella Grygorcewicz. She was the widow of Edward Eugene Biziewski, and the mother of their son Richard, and their daughter Stephanie. Among her beloveds, she also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Frances Ann and Silverio Mazzella, as well as cherished nephew and niece, John Jr. and Carol Rynkiewicz, niece Susan Rose, and sisters-in-law Trudy Baribeault and Beverly Biziewski. Mary was predeceased by two sisters, Blanche and Sophie, their spouses John Rynkiewicz and Arthur Maynard respectively, nephew Roy Mazzella and niece Lois Maynard Harper. Before embarking on a 30-year career as a junior high school English teacher, Mary worked for local businesses, including King-Seely Thermos Co. She began her college studies at the age of 36, graduating with a B.A. from Willimantic State Teachers' College in 1960. In 1963 she earned an M.A. in Education from the University of Connecticut. Mrs. Biziewski retired from the Norwich Public Schools System in June, 1990. Throughout her life Mary Ann was a prominent participant in church, civic, community, and Polish-ethnic organizations and activities. Among those to which she was most dedicated were the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary #10, the Polish Heritage Association of Norwich, the Norwich Teachers' and Rose City Bowling Leagues, the Council of Catholic Women, and the Women's City Club of Norwich, to name a few. She was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Norwich. Mary Ann was well respected by many, and sincerely loved by family and friends. Calling hours are Monday, April 16, from 5-7 P.M. at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., Norwich. The Funeral will assemble on Tuesday, April 17, at 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph Church, Norwich. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 120 Cliff St., Norwich, CT. 06360.
