DEATH OF AN AUSTRALIAN-BORN OCTOGENARIAN.
One of the oldest natives of Australia, Mr. R. B. Barnes,
has just died at Rutherglen. Mr.Barnes, who was born in
the barracks in Sydney in 1802, was the son of an officer
of the 63rd Regiment, and brother of a quarter-master
in the 40th. Mr. Barnes took to farming in the North-West
Eastern District, and had attained the age of eighty-eight
years when he died.
