The 1880 U.S. Census verifies that Mary was a widower and 3 children were listed in her care. Further info is needed to verify if maybe the first 2 listed were adopted from an earlier marriage of John's and maybe the youngest child was her actual child with John. If Mary wed a 2nd time, known info is unavailable to verify it.
