Godfrey Wilson Leake 1815 - 1900

Godfrey Wilson Leake was born in April 1815 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York United States to Catherine Tillinghast and Isaac Quintard Leake, and had siblings Elizabeth Catherine Leake, Clara Matilda Leake, Mary Tillinghast Leake, John William Leake, Julia Leake, William D. Leake, and Charles Tillinghast Leake. Godfrey was baptized on April 4, 1815 in Buffalo. He married Lydia Worth Edmunds, and had children Elizabeth Munro Leake, Mary E. Leake, Godfrey Quintard Leake, Charles P. Leake, Bernard Joseph Leake, Aoysiss P. Leake, and Paul F. Leake. Godfrey Leake died at age 84 years old on March 27, 1900 in Cranford, Union County, NJ, and was buried in March 1900 at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

In 1815, in the year that Godfrey Wilson Leake was born, on February 3rd, the first commercial cheese factory was founded in Switzerland. The first employee of the factory was a man named Loris Federspiel and his title was “Käse Schneidemaschine” - "Cheese Cutting Machine".
