She had siblings Susanna Sarah Jones, Martha Charlotte Jones, Henry Joseph Jones, Walter Thomas Jones, William John Jones, and David Peter Jones. She married Walter Benstead King in 1880, and had children Elizabeth Ann (King) Goodes, Herbert Walter King, Martha Jane (King) Goodes, and Mary Ellen King. Mary King died at age 75 years old on May 12, 1938 in Caulfield, City of Glen Eira County.

Taking her son with her and sending her daughter to England for schooling, she taught in Siam for 6 years - until the King died.
