Maud (Harrison) Kimpton of Kensington Australia was born in 1886 in Kerang, Gannawarra Shire County, VIC to Eliza Jane (Stanning) Harrison and James Harrison. She had siblings Emma Jane Harrison, Flaurence May Harrison, James Thomas Harrison, and Florence May Rackstraw. She married Thomas Fuller Kimpton, and had children Ethel Maud Kimpton, Florence May Kimpton, and Frances Violet Kimpton. Maud Kimpton died at age 52 years old in 1938 in Kensington.

In 1886, in the year that Maud (Harrison) Kimpton was born, on June 13th, the "Great Vancouver Fire" destroyed most of Vancouver, British Columbia. A small brush fire got out of control and spread to the rest of the city. Dozens of people died and it was only after the fire that money was raised for a fire hall. The local Squamish tribe rescued people who had jumped into bodies of water to escape the conflagration.
