BERRIEN SPRINGS -- May Rippon, 90, of Berrien Springs formerly of Riverside, Calif., and of Cooranbong, Australia, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph, following a sudden illness. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 7, at Pioneer Memorial Church, with Pastors Barry Gane and Esther Knott officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family immediately following the service at the Pioneer Memorial Church Commons. Those wishing to sign the guest book may do so at www.legacyfuneral.com. Memorials in her memory may be made to the May Rippon Memorial Fund at Andrews Academy. May was born to John and Rosena (Potter) Moore at Perth, Australia, on Dec. 28, 1914. In 1937, on her 23rd birthday, she married William Pickering Rippon in Melbourne, Australia. The couple resided in Cooranbong, Australia, for many years before coming to Riverside, Calif., in 1973 when William (Bill) accepted a position as Vice President of Loma Linda Foods. May moved to Berrien Springs in 2000 to be with her daughter, Norene Clouten. May was a member of the Pioneer Memorial SDA Church and enjoyed the time she spent in her Sabbath school class led by Dr. Richard Lesher and with friends at her weekly prayer group. She was previously an active member of the La Sierra SDA Church in Riverside, Calif., where she was active in the Community Services ministries. Before that, she was the head deaconess of the Avondale SDA Church in Australia. She also was a member of the South Pacific Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and her maltese dog. In California, May enjoyed raising exotic Australian birds for many years, and most recently, she enjoyed the time she spent watching the wild birds here in Michigan. Survivors include her daughter, Norene May (Neville) Clouten of Berrien Springs; a son, William Barton Rippon of Loma Linda, Calif.; seven grandchildren -- Bjorn (Mina) Clouten of Vancouver, Wash., Kirstin (Scott) Falk of Arlington, Va., Lindelle Rippon of Loma Linda, Lorene (Giulio) Cantarella of Wombat Station, Australia, Jonathan Rippon of Loma Linda, Elizabeth Rippon of Newcastle, Australia, and Robert Maliphant of Melbourne, Australia. She was preceded in death by her husband and life partner, Bill Rippon, in 1993; by her daughter, Julia Rosalea Maliphant, who died in 1994; and by her brother, John Moore; and sister, Margaret King.ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
